Every moon has a story! This one started with a Waning Gibbous (99.5%) moon on a calm and frosty -2.0˚C morning on June 23rd at the jetty and ended on daybreak at the fountain. The Lake was fogged in on the morning of the full moon the day before, so this was the next best thing.

One of the most intense sunrises I had experienced around Lake Pukaki was a bit of a surprise. While fixated on Aoraki and hoping the cloud would clear, the scene over the water behind me was slowly unfolding. One advantage of long-exposure photography is that you always have time for a coffee and to observe your surroundings. The last panorama was the original plan, but throughout the change of light, the mountain remained cloaked in low cloud, so the morning`s highlight was unexpected.
